A custom website for your Boise business, drawn from a blank page
A custom website design in Boise, Idaho means every layout exists for a reason we can explain. We don't open a theme and swap in your logo. We start with what you sell, who buys it, and who you compete with, then draw pages that fit.
That sounds obvious, but it isn't how most sites get made. Most start from a finished layout with sections already placed. Your content gets squeezed into someone else's idea of a business website. Custom design flips that order. Your goals come first, and the layout follows.
Custom doesn't mean strange. Visitors still expect a menu at the top and a phone number they can tap. We keep the familiar parts familiar. What we customize is the order, the emphasis, and the proof, so the site feels like yours and still works the way people expect.
Custom vs. template: an honest comparison
Templates aren't evil. They're built to work for as many businesses as possible, and that is also their limit. Here is when each makes sense.
When a template is fine
If you're testing a new idea, you have a tiny budget, and search traffic doesn't matter yet, a template can get you online fast. Nothing wrong with that. Just know you'll likely replace it later.
When custom pays off
Custom pays off when the site has to win business. That's true when your work is high-ticket, your competitors look alike, or customers compare you with two or three other companies before calling. In those markets, looking and sounding like everyone else costs you jobs. A layout built around your strengths gives you room to stand out.
What we design from scratch
Here is what "custom" actually covers on one of our projects.
- Page layouts for your homepage, service pages, about page, and contact page.
- A color and type system that matches your brand, carried across every page.
- Proof sections: reviews, project photos, and credentials, placed where visitors decide.
- Forms and calls to action that fit how your customers like to reach you.
- A page structure that supports search, with headings and links that make sense.
- A Sanity CMS setup so you can edit text and photos yourself.
How the process works when there's no theme
We begin with a strategy session. We look at your business, your best customers, and the sites you compete with. Then we plan the page list and sketch what each page needs to say.
Next comes design. We draw your key pages and you react to them. You see real layouts with your content in them, not a menu of options. You don't have to guess how a page will turn out, because we design with your actual wording. The first time you see a layout, it's already your business, not a placeholder. That makes feedback faster and more specific. Once the design is approved, we build it on Next.js and test it on phones, tablets, and desktops. After that we check forms, tracking, and indexing, and launch.
A typical project takes four to eight weeks from strategy to launch. Because nothing is pulled from a theme, there is no leftover code slowing pages down. The site only contains what your pages use.
Service pages show why this matters. A themed site gives every service the same box: a heading, an image, and three bullet points. But a septic install and a kitchen remodel don't sell the same way. One needs the process and the permits explained. The other needs finished photos and material choices up front. Custom design lets each page have the layout its subject needs, so your most valuable service gets the most room, proof, and push.
How custom design helps in search
Search engines and AI tools favor pages that are clear and fast. A custom build lets us control both. We write headings that match how people search, add structured data so your business details are easy to read, and keep each page focused on one topic.
That's the SEO/AEO foundation on every build. It helps your pages compete in Google and gives AI search tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews clear information to cite. A page that is hard to read for a human is usually hard to read for a machine too.
What custom design costs
Custom isn't an upcharge. Every package is custom design, including Launch. Website packages start at $3,900, and most projects land around $6,400. The package mostly changes how many pages you get and how much we write and set up for you. See the details on the pricing page.
If you need a logo and brand system too, the Premium package at $10,100 includes them. We cover that kind of work in our branding and content creation service. 50% of the build is due at kickoff and 50% at launch. Hosting and CMS are $75 per month.
Who custom design isn't for
Custom design isn't the right call if you want a site live this week, or you can't spend time answering questions about your business. We need your input on who your customers are and what sets you apart. The better that input, the better the site.
Custom design also asks for decisions. Someone has to pick the photos, approve the wording, and say yes or no to layouts. If you can give us a few hours across the project, that's plenty. If you can't, a smaller package with less to decide may suit you better.
It also isn't for someone who wants to pick a favorite from a catalog of looks. We design around your business instead. If that's what you want, take a look at our portfolio and see whether the approach feels right. Then reach out and we'll talk through it.
