What digital marketing does for a home service contractor

Digital marketing for a home service contractor has one job: get the right homeowner to call you instead of the next company. Everything else is a means to that. We run it for roofers, siding and gutter companies, excavators, HVAC companies, concrete and pool builders, and landscaping companies, and we run it as one system instead of five separate projects.

A homeowner with a leaking roof or a dead furnace does not think about channels. They search Google, look at the map, read a few reviews, glance at your website, and sometimes ask ChatGPT who to trust. That is five places where you can win or lose the job before your phone rings. Our work is making sure you show up well in all five, and that you can see which one paid off.

Some people hear digital marketing and picture social posts and email blasts. For a contractor with crews to keep busy, the money is mostly in search, maps, AI answers, reviews, and ads. That is where homeowners are when they are ready to hire.

The order we build things in

Order matters more than most contractors expect. Ads sent to a weak website waste money. A strong Google profile with no reviews gets passed over. So we build in layers, and we only move up a layer when the one below can hold the weight.

Layer one: a site that can close the call

Everything starts with the website. If it loads slowly, hides your phone number, or leans on stock photos, every other channel leaks. If your site needs to be rebuilt, we can do that through our web design work. If it is already solid, we leave it alone and build on it.

Layer two: be findable

Next comes search and AI visibility. That means technical fixes, a page for each service and city you want to win, your Google Business Profile, and content that answers the questions homeowners ask before they hire. This is the SEO/AEO work, and it builds on itself month after month.

Layer three: be believable

Reviews and an active profile come next. A homeowner comparing you to two other companies on the map will usually pick the one with fresher proof. We treat reviews as part of marketing, not an afterthought.

Layer four: pay for attention where the numbers work

Google Ads and Local Services Ads come once the first layers can handle the traffic. In some slow markets ads go first because they give you data quickly. We tell you plainly when that is the case.

How the pieces feed each other

The reason to run these together is that each one makes the others work harder. A few examples from a typical contractor account:

  • Service pages built for SEO/AEO also become the landing pages for ad campaigns.
  • Reviews help you in the map pack and give AI tools more to quote when someone asks who to hire.
  • Call and form tracking shows which channel produces real jobs, so budget moves to what works.
  • A consistent business name, address, and phone number across the web helps Google and AI tools trust the facts about you.

What it costs

We price each channel on its own, so you pay for what you use. SEO/AEO + GEO is $1,500 per month with a $499 setup. Google Business Profile management is $249 per month with a $199 setup. Reputation management is $199 per month with a $299 setup. Google Ads management is $650 per month plus a $499 setup, and your ad spend goes directly to Google. Local Services Ads management is $120 per month with a $240 setup.

Monthly reporting through Sonar Analytics comes with every growth service. You can see all the numbers on our pricing page. Most contractors do not need every service on day one. We recommend a starting point and add from there.

Who this is for, and who it is not

Our growth marketing is for home service contractors doing at least $300K a year. Below that, a good website and a well-run Google profile are usually the better use of money, and we are happy to say so.

We also work with only 15 partners in total, and never two in the same trade whose markets overlap. If a competitor of yours in the same trade and market is already a partner, we cannot take you on. If the market is open, it stays yours while we work together.

Mistakes we see when contractors buy marketing in pieces

Most contractors we talk to did not make bad choices. They made disconnected ones. One company built the site, another does ads, a third posts on the Google profile, and nobody owns the whole picture.

  • Running ads to a page nobody has tested on a phone.
  • Paying for SEO with no way to see how many calls it produced.
  • Ignoring reviews until a bad one shows up.
  • Hiring a different company for each job, so none of them talk to each other.
  • Judging marketing by the number of leads instead of the number of booked jobs.

What to expect over the first year

The first month is mostly setup: audits, profile cleanup, tracking, and a plan. You will see the work before you see the results. Paid ads usually produce data first. SEO/AEO and reviews take longer, and how long depends on your trade and your market.

From there, you get a monthly report and plain notes on what we are changing and why. We do not promise a ranking or a number of calls. We promise to work the plan, show you what is happening, and tell you when something is not working. If you want to talk through where to start, get in touch.
