Who it's for

Contractors with crews, where the owner is not on every job to ask for reviews.

Why reviews decide who gets the call

Homeowners hire contractors they trust, and reviews are how strangers decide whether to trust you. When two companies show up on the same map, the one with better, newer reviews usually gets the call. That is true for a roofer, a pool builder, and everyone in between.

Reputation management is the work of building that proof on purpose. It covers asking customers for reviews, handling what comes in, and using it to strengthen the rest of your marketing. It does not mean hiding bad reviews or faking good ones. We never do either.

How reviews feed rankings and AI answers

Google lists prominence as one of the things it uses for local results, and reviews are part of prominence. The number, the quality, and the content of your reviews can all matter.

Think about it from the homeowner side. They are about to spend thousands of dollars on a stranger. They read the reviews to find out whether you show up, whether the price matched the quote, and whether the yard was clean afterward. A rating alone tells them very little. The words tell them everything.

Reviews also give AI tools language to quote. When someone asks ChatGPT or Google AI who to call for a roof replacement, the answer often leans on what past customers wrote. A review that says you finished a full replacement on time and cleaned up the yard gives a tool something specific to work with. That is why we treat reviews as part of SEO/AEO and not a separate chore.

How review generation works with us

The biggest problem most contractors have is not bad reviews. It is that happy customers never get asked. A crew finishes a job, the owner is on the next one, and nobody sends the request. We fix that with a system built on Review Barracuda.

  • Automated text and email review requests go out through your CRM, at the right moment after a job.
  • Metal QR code review cards give your crews a simple way to ask in person.
  • A past-customer reengagement campaign is included in setup, so people you have already served get a chance to review you.

Responding to reviews

Not every reply needs a long answer. Keep the pattern simple: thank them, name the job if you can, and say something real. For a critical review, stay calm, say what you are doing about it, and offer to talk offline. Never argue, and never share private details about a customer or a job.

A reply is a public message to the next customer. A short, specific thank you to a happy customer shows you pay attention. A calm, factual answer to a critical review shows how you handle problems, which often earns more trust than the review costs you.

If you also use our Google Business Profile service, every review gets a reply within 24 hours. Learn more on our Google Business Profile optimization page. We write replies in your voice and keep them free of canned phrases.

What it costs

Reputation management is $199 per month with a $299 setup. You get the automated review requests, the QR cards for your team, and the past-customer campaign. Monthly reporting through Sonar Analytics, which is free with every growth service, shows your reviews alongside rankings and leads.

Who it fits and who it does not

This fits contractors with crews, where the owner is not on every job to ask for reviews. It fits best when your work is good and your volume is steady, since the system multiplies what is already there.

If you are on every job and reviews already come in on their own, automation adds less. We will tell you if it is not worth it for you. It will not rescue a business with real service problems, and reviews cannot fix that. Growth marketing in general is for contractors doing $300K or more a year, with one partner per trade per market.

On timing, reviews build slowly and steadily. Each completed job is a chance for a new one. Expect volume to rise as the system settles in, then keep growing with your job count. We do not promise a number of reviews or a star rating, because that depends on your customers and your work. Because reviews carry weight in local rankings and in what AI tools say, they also support our AEO work.

The setup period covers connecting the system to your CRM, writing the request messages in your voice, ordering the QR cards, and launching the campaign to past customers. After launch we watch which messages get replies and adjust the wording and timing. A request that arrives soon after the job tends to work better than one that arrives weeks later, so timing is something we test rather than guess.

Mistakes and what to expect

These are the review mistakes we see most.

  • Buying reviews or trading them for discounts, which can get reviews removed and profiles flagged.
  • Asking only when you are sure the customer is happy, and so getting a tiny trickle.
  • Ignoring negative reviews, or arguing in public.
  • Collecting reviews on one site only. Google matters most for local search, but others add trust.
  • Sending requests in batches every few months, which leaves long gaps with no new reviews.
